
One of the most serious problems of Upper Silesia and Zaglebie Dabrowskie society is the condition of environment which keeps getting worse. This area has been heavily industrialized for many years. The pressure on environment has a strong effect from both, the companies which realize their economic objectives without paying attention to the natural resources, and the public sector, which has been increasing suddenly because of demand on labour force.

It directly borders on the capital of the Province - Katowice. The city located at the crossing of important communication routes, from south to north ( international road: Scandinavia - Gdansk - Warsaw - Katowice - Ostrawa ) and west to east ( Nordberg, Dresden - Wrocław - Katowice - Krakow - Lvov - Kiev). The "Bobrek" collector shall be carried on from the wastewater treatment plant to the southern direction, along the Czarna Przemsza river, which separates Sosnowiec from Katowice and Mysłowice.
